THE F-WORD

The "four-letter word that starts with F and ends in K" is, of course, "FOLK."

Let us picture a dialog with a Typical Record Company Executive (or that Foul Beast, the Nightclub Owner):

Suit: "So, what kind of music do you play?"

Musician: "Folk music."

Suit: "FOLK MUSIC???!!! AARRRGGGHHHH!"

"It doesn't sell."

Musician: "Well, actually it's Alternative Acoustic Americana Traditional Ethnic Music."

Suit: "OH! WELL! THAT'S POPULAR! In that case you can have a recording contract! Can you play anything from O Brother Where Art Thou?"

It -does- tend to be aggravating ......
